Your kid gets 15 minutes with a counselor. The brochure shows the dining hall.

A US high school counselor is responsible for an average of 400 students — 60% over the 250 the profession recommends — with about 15 minutes of one-on-one time per student per year. Wealthy families hire $400-an-hour private consultants. Everyone else gets a slick brochure that shows the lazy river and skips the salary data, the debt math, and which jobs AI is about to eat.

FutureProof is an RPG-style career planning tool that turns nine federal datasets into a five-stat pentagon and five boss fights — earnings, debt, AI resilience, growth, and brand. Powered by Gemma 4 via Ollama, so a Title I school with a $600 Mac Mini gets the same analysis a private school buys at $400 an hour. No token cost, no student data leaving the building.

I've been inside the machine. I've seen how the systems work — the ones that decide whether your resume gets read, the ones that harvest your data before you even know it's gone. I built systems like that for two decades. I know exactly where they're vulnerable.

Now I build for the other side. Smart. Scrappy. Independent.

No venture capital. No enterprise sales team. No permission needed. Just tools that give regular people the same advantages that used to be locked behind six-figure contracts.

Who's Behind This

I'm Jeff. I do regular old corporate technology stuff by day.

But the technology I build at Hyena Studios isn't for them. It's for you.

I started this company because I kept seeing the same pattern: powerful technology built to serve corporations, and nothing built to serve the people those corporations affect. ATS systems that reject qualified candidates. Platforms that harvest user data as a business model. Tools that cost more than most people's monthly rent.

That's backwards. So I'm fixing it, one product at a time, with Claude as a copilot — because I practice what I preach about AI tools.

I registered this LLC years ago, named after a cartoon character I drew in high school. It's followed me around like a Yahoo! email address — if you're old enough to remember those, you know exactly what I mean. Hyena Studios is a one-person operation and I'm not pretending otherwise. Every line of code, every design decision, every product choice — that's me. And I think that's a feature, not a bug.
